Plethora of Comments Delayed Release Second Draft Revised Copyright Law

Later in June or beginning of July the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) will release the second draft of the revised Copyright Law. The first draft of the revised version was released March 31, 2012, see here.

The NCAC announced that 81 of the 88 provisions will be changed. This as a reaction to the massive responses by countries around the world, including the governments of Japan, USA, UK, EU and Taiwan and industry’s views.

The original plan was to conclude the round of comments in the end of April and do the revisions in May. However, views continue to come in.

NCAC received comments from 49 ministries; six teaching and research units, 329 of the judiciary and the copyright administrative management departments; 23 of central industry associations including the views of the business community; more than 1500 units and personal opinions.
